What the hell are the writers of AoS doing with Grant Ward?!

They have a talented actor, who clearly loves his role and genuinely puts the effort into analyzing Ward’s motives, playing a character driven by his traumatic yet ambiguous past and sporting a bizarre saviour complex coupled (ironically) with the inability to take responsibility for his own (often terrible) actions and they’re NOT making him into a layered, complex anti-hero?????

I mean, honestly, this is such a wasted opportunity. TV shows/movies, especially those of the Marvel universe, are full of boring, mustache-twirling villains with “he does horrible stuff because he’s a psychopath” deemed to be enough to satisfy character motivation. Interesting and not overly romanticized anti-heroes are difficult to come by. So when you build up a character with that kind of potential and then suddenly throw it away in favour of a run-of-the-mill “he’s just an evil bastard” storyline I will… I think… well, ok, there’s nothing I can really do about that. But I will let you know that your writing is lazy and your writing is shitty. That I will.

Simply put, it’s just an overall disappointment to your fans.
